SHRI SHANTHINIKETHAN MATRIC SCHOOL follows strictly the Continuous & Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE scheme) implemented from Class I to X.
The Objectives of CCE are two fold and are:
- Continuity in Evaluation
- Assessment of broad based learning and b e h a v i o r a l outcomes.
Formative Assessment is a tool used by the teacher to continuously monitor student progress in a non-threatening, supportive environment. It is carried using multiple modes of assessment. It provides the platform for the active involvement of students in their own learning. It recognizes the need for students to be able to assess themselves and understand how to improve. It is diagnostic, remedial and also builds on student’s prior knowledge and experience. It encourages to understand the criteria that will be used to judge their work.
Summative Assessment is carried out at the end of learning. It is a graded written test (i.e.) it is marked according to a scale of grades. It demonstrates the ‘sum’ of what students have or have not learnt. It is the assessment of learning by students in an evaluative term. This is most traditional way of evaluating student’s work
